Verdict

A single-calendar booking page is a weekend build: define your availability rules, connect one Google Calendar via OAuth to check free/busy, and create events when someone books, with basic timezone conversion. What you don't rebuild in a weekend is the integration surface — video links that auto-generate, CRM sync, and round-robin routing across a team calendar.

Exhibit A — The prompt

Received on30.07.2026
Build a self-hosted booking page for a single person: a public page showing available time slots, computed from fixed weekly availability rules (e.g. Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm, 30-minute slots) minus busy blocks pulled from one connected calendar via OAuth (start with Google Calendar's freebusy API). When someone picks a slot, collect their name and email, create a calendar event via the same OAuth connection, and send a confirmation email. Handle timezones by detecting the visitor's browser timezone and converting all slot times to it. Store bookings in a database table (slot time, invitee, status) so you can list and cancel them from an admin view. Skip video-conferencing auto-generation, multi-host round-robin, and any CRM integration — those are out of scope.

Opening prefills the prompt — press enter to run it.

Exhibit B — What you lose

  • B.1 automatic video-call links (Zoom, Meet) generated per booking
  • B.2 team round-robin and collective availability across multiple calendars
  • B.3 native integrations with CRMs and Slack, and automated reminder workflows

Prior art

Exhibit C — Why people still pay: integrations

People keep paying for Calendly because it already talks to everything the other side uses — their calendar, their video tool, their CRM. A homemade booking page solves your own calendar problem; it doesn't solve the network of integrations that make the link frictionless for whoever's booking.

Questions

Can I connect more than one calendar?

The prompt wires up one OAuth calendar. Adding a second means merging two freebusy calls before offering slots — doable, but it's the first thing that turns a weekend into a week.

Does it create a Zoom or Meet link automatically?

No. That needs a second OAuth integration with the video provider's API; the DIY version leaves the link field blank for you to fill in manually.

What happens with timezones?

The page detects the visitor's browser timezone and converts slots to it, the same way Calendly does for a single host.

Can a team share one booking page with round-robin assignment?

Not with this build. Round-robin across several people's calendars is real scheduling logic, not a small add-on.
